NSL Concludes Regional Engagements with School Visits in Kavieng and Namatanai

Nambawan Super Limited (NSL), the leading superannuation fund in Papua New Guinea, wrapped up its 2025 Regional Engagement and Awareness (E&A) programme with visits to Utu Secondary School in Kavieng and Namatanai Secondary School in New Ireland Province where senior leaders met members, students and teachers to promote financial literacy, hard work and long-term planning.

NSL Chairman Mr Richard Sinamoi and Chief Executive Officer Paul Sayer led a special presentation at Utu Secondary School on 31 July, attended by over 200 high school students, staff and teachers from Utu Secondary, Madina Secondary, Mongop Secondary and Kopkop College.

While addressing the audience, both leaders shared personal experiences and encouraged students to embrace strong values such as hard work, sacrifice and early financial planning as essential tools for achieving long-term success.

“You don’t just wake up successful. You must recognise that nothing can replace hard work. As long as you remain committed, dedicated and disciplined, you will achieve your goals,” Sinamoi emphasized.

Sayer, on the other hand, expressed happiness in meeting students, who he called as “the future leaders, professionals and contributors to our country and the economy,” hoping that some of them will one day be Members of Nambawan Super.

“We are here to help you understand that your future starts now, and it begins with hard work and sacrifice. The choices you make today will shape your future,” he added.

The awareness session at Utu Secondary was held ahead of the main Regional E&A event at Kavieng Niu Lodge later that day, which drew over 100 members including representatives from the Namatanai District.

On 1 August 2025, NSL continued its outreach with an awareness session at Namatanai Secondary School attended by nearly 100 participants. The visit gave members in remote areas a rare opportunity to ask superannuation questions directly to the CEO and receive immediate answers.

“It is always a pleasure to meet with Members outside of our major town centres, as they don’t often have a chance to visit our Branches and learn about how to maximise their superannuation savings,” Sayer said.

“Our Members in these areas work hard every day to bring crucial services to their communities and they do not ask for much in return. Nambawan Super cares about all our Members wherever they reside or work and we are working hard to ensure that all our Members can access important information that will benefit them in retirement after a lifetime of nation-building,” he added.

The Regional E&A events provide a platform for NSL to engage directly with employer representatives and members, sharing vital updates on the Fund’s performance, key initiatives and economic outlook. They also serve as an avenue for members to voice concerns, share challenges and receive guidance, fostering stronger collaboration between the Fund and its membership nationwide.

Attendees were reminded that superannuation is a long-term investment, with results fluctuating year to year, and that maintaining a long-term perspective is key to maximising benefits.

The Kavieng and Namatanai visits marked the conclusion of NSL’s 2025 regional activities which also included the Employer Conference in Port Moresby and previous engagements in Goroka, Lae and Kokopo.
