K92 Cheque Presentation for the Goroka Show 2025

K92 Mining has reaffirmed its commitment to cultural preservation and community development in the Eastern Highlands Province with a sponsorship of K100,000 towards the 2025 Goroka Show.

The sponsorship was formally presented on 19 May 2025 during a ceremony held at the Bird of Paradise Hotel in Goroka.

Representing K92 Mining at the event were Community Affairs and External Relations Manager James Topo, Senior Community Affairs Officer Meishen Apingi, and Gender Officer Orpah Peter.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the show was Goroka Show Chairlady, Keryn Hargreaves.

K92 Mining’s contribution highlights the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its relationship with local communities by supporting meaningful cultural activities, it said in a statement.

The Goroka Show, one of Papua New Guinea’s cultural festivals, provides a platform for tribes from across the province to come together and showcase their distinct customs, traditional attire, and performances. The event attracts both local and international audiences.

The sponsorship is part of K92 Mining’s broader initiative to support cultural and community development in the areas where it operates.

“K92 Mining’s support and encourages community cohesion and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the region. Events like the Goroka Show play an important role in unifying diverse communities in Papua New Guinea,” it said.

Speaking on behalf of the Goroka Show Committee, Chairlady Hargreaves said: “Support from partners like K92 Mining is what keeps the spirit of the Goroka Show alive. It means a lot not just for the event, but for the people and communities who are part of it.”
