Westpac Pacific is investing in the future of banking across the region through its Future Banker Development Series, a dedicated professional development program designed to strengthen the skills, confidence and expertise of emerging banking professionals in Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
The six-month program reflects Westpac's commitment to developing talent across the Pacific and equipping employees with the capabilities needed to support customers in an increasingly dynamic financial environment.
Bringing together early- and mid-career banking professionals from across Fiji and Papua New Guinea, the Future Banker Development Series provides participants with access to development opportunities that draw on the experience, expertise and learning frameworks of the broader Westpac Group, while remaining grounded in the realities of Pacific banking.
The program focuses on the practical skills that underpin strong customer relationships and professional excellence, including communication, emotional intelligence, stakeholder engagement, customer conversations and personal effectiveness. Participants complete a structured learning journey that combines virtual learning, peer collaboration and practical workplace application.
Westpac Pacific is celebrating the success of its inaugural cohort, with 15 participants having completed or being in the final stages of completing the program.
Westpac PNG Head of Corporate & Commercial Banking Patrick Wright said developing banking capability is particularly important as Papua New Guinea continues to invest in economic growth and business development.

Through programs such as Future Banker, Westpac is helping build a pipeline of skilled banking professionals equipped to support the Pacific's evolving financial services sector, combining local market knowledge with development opportunities drawn from the wider Westpac Group.
