K92 Mining's newly appointed board chair, John Lewins, has led his first board meeting in Papua New Guinea, marking the start of a new leadership chapter following changes that took effect on 1 October.

Chief Executive Officer and Director David Medilek also attended his first board meeting in his new capacity.

As part of the board programme, directors travelled to the Kainantu Gold Mine, where they received operational briefings from the site management team and met employees from across the business.

The visit included an underground mine tour and inspections of the river crossing infrastructure and other operational areas, giving directors firsthand insights into mining activities and future development opportunities.

The board also toured key surface facilities, including the Stage 3 Expansion Process Plant, and received presentations on health and safety performance, major projects, exploration and geology, mine operations and human resources.

The briefings covered the company's operational performance, ongoing expansion initiatives and its approach to responsible mining and stakeholder engagement.

Following the site visit, directors travelled to Loloata Island Resort near Port Moresby for a strategy session and formal board meeting.

The programme concluded with a dinner in Port Moresby attended by business leaders, industry partners and other stakeholders. The gathering provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships and discuss opportunities to support Papua New Guinea's economic development and long-term growth.

K92 said the board's visit reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a strong presence in Papua New Guinea as it advances the next phase of development at the Kainantu Gold Mine.

The company said direct engagement with employees, communities, business partners and other stakeholders provided directors with valuable insights into its operations, growth initiatives and long-term plans.
