PNG Air Suspends All Flights to Wewak Following Break and Enter at Boram Airport

PNG Air advises the general public that all flights to and from Wewak have been cancelled until further notice following a serious break and enter incident at Boram Airport, Wewak.

The incident resulted in significant damage to terminal facilities, including the destruction of critical infrastructure and the loss of valuable computer equipment and essential office systems. As a consequence, safe and secure operating conditions cannot currently be guaranteed.

PNG Air deeply regrets the inconvenience this suspension will cause to passengers, business partners and the broader community. However, the safety and security of our passengers, staff and aircraft remain our highest priority.

Flight Schedule Adjustments

Effective immediately and until further notice:

  • All flights scheduled to operate to Wewak are cancelled.

  • Flights that normally overfly Wewak will now operate directly to Vanimo.

  • Services previously operating Port Moresby – Mount Hagen – Wewak will now terminate at Mount Hagen.

Passengers holding bookings to or from Wewak are advised to contact PNG Air sales offices or their travel agents for rebooking or refund arrangements.

PNG Air is working closely with airport authorities and relevant stakeholders to assess the situation and determine when services can safely resume. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

We thank the travelling public for their understanding and patience during this time.
