Ok Tedi Mining Limited (Ok Tedi) has kicked off 2026 by strengthening its commitment to employee health and wellbeing through the 90 Days Live Well Campaign — an initiative launched to help the workforce build healthier, more active and more resilient lifestyles across all operations.
A key feature of this year’s campaign, launched in January, is the new Live Well App, a digital tool developed to support employees on their personal wellbeing journeys. The app allows employees to track progress, set goals and access practical resources on fitness, nutrition, mental health and daily healthy habits.
Speaking during the launch, General Manager Engineering, Infrastructure and Projects Franz Hemetsberger said the campaign is part of Ok Tedi’s long-standing focus on safeguarding its people.
“Our employees are the heart of Ok Tedi. Supporting their long-term health is essential to maintaining a strong, productive and high-performing workforce,” Hemetsberger said.
To inspire staff, the launch featured motivational sessions with Papua New Guinean and international rugby league star Justin Olam and Dr Vigilanda Solijon, who both urged employees to prioritise their wellbeing and stay disciplined in their daily habits.
Reflecting on the importance of family and community obligations, Olam reminded employees: “As Melanesians, we have aunties, uncles and bubus who depend on us. To continue supporting our families, we must make our health a priority.”
Following the launch, Olam joined the Ok Tedi Health Services team in rolling out engagement activities across operations, reinforcing key health messages and encouraging strong participation on site.
Ok Tedi Health Services Manager Raymond Singamis said the introduction of the Live Well App represents a major step towards empowering employees and business partners to take control of their health.
“The Live Well App puts practical wellbeing tools directly into people’s hands. It helps staff track their fitness and health indicators, access educational content, stay updated on health campaign activities and set personalised goals,” he said.
“By integrating technology with a company-wide wellbeing program, Ok Tedi is reinforcing its commitment to creating a safe, healthy and fulfilling working environment, and supporting employees in making positive lifestyle changes that extend well beyond the workplace.”
