Nasfund has assisted more than 250 members through an outreach programme in Balimo, Western Province, providing superannuation services, account updates and financial education to workers in the remote community.
The initiative, conducted through the fund’s southern regional branch link, served employees of the PNG Sustainable Development Program (SDP), Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF) and other employers.
During the outreach, 134 members updated their beneficiary details, while the team captured 155 images to support membership identification card processing. More than 150 members also registered for online services to check their account balances.
The programme included five financial awareness presentations attended by 166 members, covering retirement preparedness, superannuation benefits, voluntary contributions, long-term savings strategies and the importance of keeping beneficiary information up to date.
Nasfund said the initiative was part of its commitment to extending member services to regional and remote communities, particularly those unable to access services through the nearest branch.
Feedback from Joe Mana, shared services coordinator at SDP, indicated that employees had gained a better understanding of superannuation, savings and loans products, voluntary contributions and long-term financial planning.
The outreach also enabled members to update their personal records and access services that were not readily available in remote locations.
Nasfund said the programme generated increased interest in membership of the National Capital District-based NCSL, with several membership applications and service requests initiated following the visit.
The fund acknowledged the support of SDP management, KTF, Balimo College leadership, payroll teams and participating members in delivering the programme.
According to Nasfund’s membership database, SDP currently contributes for 259 employers, while KTF covers 204 employees and Balimo College has 41 teachers.
