Investment Promotion Authority celebrates its 30 years of being in operation in the country.

Commerce and Industry Minister Henry Amuli said celebrating 30 years of operation is a momentous occasion because the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) is the top performing agency in the Commerce and Trade ministry.

He said that previous prime ministers and ministers established IPA to encourage and facilitate trade and investment inside the nation, resulting in the growth of enterprises and industries, the generation of money for the country, and the employment of its residents.

According to Mr. Amuli, these former leaders had the vision to establish and sustain the IPA as a significant State institution.

“Having come into the political arena from the SME space, I have learned and observed that since its establishment, the IPA among other commercial statutory agencies within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been and is one of the top-performing, transparent, accountable, independent and evolving agency,” he said.

“The IPA has grown stronger from its humble beginning in 1992.

Some of you seated here saw the transaction from 2010 to 2013, the IPA undertook a wholesale review of a number of key legislations, including the Business Name Act, and the Companies Act, and delivered a web-based registry system that now takes the operation efficiency of the registry to a whole new level.”

According to Mr. Amuli, the IPA Strategic Plan 2021–2023 focuses on restructuring, realignment, innovation in regulation, and promotion, and takes into account current business trends around the world and other best practises from around the world to create an environment that will support the growth of agriculture, small and medium-sized businesses, and the economy.

He expressed his satisfaction and admiration for IPA for its 30-year success story and expressed interest in what IPA has in store.
