ExxonMobil PNG donated Personal Protective Equipment to the National Department of Health yesterday in its effort to further support the fight against COVID-19.

"The Safety of our workforce, their families, and the communities in which we live and work are of the highest priority," said Executive Director of ExxonMobil PNG (EMPNG) Keith Killian. "On behalf of ExxonMobil PNG and PNG LNG, we are pleased to donate these supplies in support of the front-line response workers, to enable them to safely carry out their important roles in the country’s COVID-19 response”.

Receiving the donation at the ExxonMobil office in Port Moresby, the National Department of Health Secretary, Dr Paison Dakulala, said that the donation would go down to the frontline workers like the security forces and other professionals who are helping to implement the SOE, doing testing, and caring for those that get sick.

Dr Dakulala also had an after-hours tour of the ExxonMobil office to see how EMPNG is applying preventive and protective measures as part of the “new normal” at the workplace.

"Just looking at what you've got here, the entry screening, the information broadcast on the screens, the social distancing mechanisms and wearing masks, is an example of what needs to be done everywhere in all organisations and facilities in PNG. And the masks were made by our people who are SMEs, which is very important because we need to support our SMEs as well."

ExxonMobil PNG and PNG LNG also continues to support the National Department of Health COVID-19 prevention awareness efforts in Hela, Southern Highlands and Central Provinces to educate people on necessary preventative measures against the spread of the virus. In Hela, fuel and rations are being provided to support remote areas, while across the three provinces it is assisting with printing and distribution of awareness materials. It has also donated critical medical equipment to the POM General Hospital.

The company has also supported the SOE with its charter airplane with the transportation of NDoH supplies and materials between Port Moresby and Hela province, as well as the transportation of samples to the PNG Institute of Medical Research for testing.
