Patient care at Kundiawa Hospital’s Specialist Doctors Consultation Clinic and Diagnostic Centre has been boosted with the arrival of a mobile ultrasound scanner.
BSP Kundiawa Branch recently presented the scanner to the hospital, enabling easier screening and increased access for patients with special needs as well as those from remote communities.
The 2025 Community Project initiative, led by BSP Kundiawa staff, also involved the construction of a nursing station and the improvement of the patient waiting area, including the donation of chairs to provide seating for patients awaiting consultations.
BSP Kundiawa Branch Manager Rita Singut said the project is a testament to the bank’s commitment to community well-being.
“We are proud to support the hospital in its mission to deliver quality healthcare. Seeing the smiles on patients’ faces and knowing we’ve made their experience more comfortable is incredibly rewarding,” Singut said.
The handover ceremony was officiated by BSP Board Chairman Robert Bradshaw and witnessed by key hospital leaders, including CEO Dr. Ken Kassi, who expressed deep appreciation for the donation.
“This contribution from BSP is more than just equipment and infrastructure — it’s a lifeline for many of our patients. The mobile ultrasound scanner will revolutionize how we reach and treat patients in remote areas. We thank BSP for their generosity and vision,” Dr. Kassi said.
The event was attended by hospital board members, specialist doctors, staff, patients, and community representatives. The initiative has already made a positive impact, with feedback from patients and guardians highlighting improved comfort and access to care.
BSP continues to invest in meaningful community projects across Papua New Guinea, strengthening its role as a responsible corporate citizen and trusted partner in development.
