Minister for International trade and Investment and MP for Yangoru-Sausia in the East Sepik Province, Hon. Richard Maru announced that his district headquarters in Yangoru station will be upgraded to a town.

“We are determined to develop a new town plan and start putting a new shopping Centre within the Yangoru station to have it transformed into a township so people no longer have to go to Wewak every day by waking up at 4am and spending K20 on PMVs just to go to Wewak and K20 to come back; this is an unnecessary waste of money and time.

“We are determined to build a township in Yangoru so our people can be serviced from our district headquarter,” he said.

Maru said the Department of Lands would be sending their officers to Yangoru in the next couple of weeks to look at the district’s town development plan.

Maru added that he was also looking at building a district hospital that would house three doctors in the district headquarter of Yangoru as well.
