Jerry Norton has been appointed as the acting chief executive officer for the Capital Insurance Group of companies, the firm announced in a statement.

CIG Chairman Michael Koisen announced last week that Norton’s appointment follows the resignation of David Lee as the Group CEO.

Norton was previously the CIG Group chief operating officer. The company said he has a strong technical, commercial and leadership background with more than 20 years insurance industry knowledge across a broad range of disciplines in both life and general insurance.

These include being regional general manager for Tower Insurance Pacific, and Norton has held other senior executive roles in the insurance industry.

“We are confident that Mr. Norton will continue to lead the team and work closely with the board, its shareholders, and customers to deliver value to the hundreds of thousands of Papua New Guinean shareholder members that CIG represents,” Koisen said.

As for Lee, Koisen said: “Mr. Lee has provided strong leadership during his tenure, and we acknowledge his positive contribution to CIG and its subsidiaries. However, the board has accepted his resignation due to the pandemic restrictions and his inability to travel back from New Zealand.”
