Ok Tedi Mining Limited (Ok Tedi) has reinforced its commitment to addressing domestic and family violence in Papua New Guinea by supporting Femili PNG, a leading non-government organisation providing essential services to survivors of violence across the country.

As part of this partnership, Ok Tedi purchased Femili PNG’s coffee, sourced from the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea, and distributed it as complimentary gifts to delegates attending the recent PNG Investment Week conference hosted by the PNG Chamber of Resources and Energy in Sydney, Australia.

The initiative not only showcased high-quality PNG coffee but also helped raise awareness of the critical work Femili PNG undertakes to support survivors of violence.

Proceeds from the coffee sales support Femili PNG’s case management services, safe accommodation support, outreach programmes and advocacy efforts nationwide.

“Domestic violence continues to affect far too many families in Papua New Guinea, and we all have a responsibility to be part of the solution,” said Ms Ruth Waram, Manager Media and Public Relations for Ok Tedi.

“By supporting Femili PNG through this initiative, Ok Tedi is helping to shine a light on the vital services Femili PNG provides to survivors. Our purchase of these coffee packs is more than a gesture — it is a statement of solidarity and a commitment to promoting safer, stronger communities across PNG.”

Femili PNG Australia Executive Director Jocelyn Condon thanked Ok Tedi for its support.

“We are grateful for Ok Tedi’s support in showcasing our award-winning Femili PNG coffee through this initiative. The support we receive contributes directly to Femili PNG’s work to end family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea,” she said.

“Funds raised from every coffee purchase directly support the services Femili PNG provides to survivors who need safety, care and a pathway to rebuild their lives. Ok Tedi’s support through this initiative — and hopefully into the future — gives us great hope for the potential of business to step forward and help resource the movement for positive change for survivors of family and sexual violence in Papua New Guinea.”
