Wimble & Co Limited, a trusted name in Papua New Guinea’s industrial and mining supply sector, underscored its commitment to sustainable solutions and deeper industry collaboration at the 2025 PNG Industrial and Mining Resources Exhibition and Conference, held at The Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby from 2–3 July.
In an exclusive interview with PNG Business News, National Mining Sales Manager Edeck Gula outlined the company’s goals, participation in the event, and the need for stronger representation from the mining sector in future editions.
“The main objective behind our participation was to showcase Wimble & Co Ltd’s product lines, including new stock tailored specifically for the mining industry,” Mr Gula said. “It also gave us a valuable platform to engage face-to-face with miners to understand their challenges and requirements.”
A highlight of the company’s exhibit was its eco-friendly product line, including Degreaser Gold, a cutting-edge cleaning solution featuring quick-break technology—designed to separate hydrocarbons from waste wash water efficiently, ideal for mining truck workshops with oil-water separators.
Also on display were corrosion inhibitors for heavy-duty haul trucks, and a range of biodegradable food containers and cutlery, aligning with industry efforts towards environmental compliance and sustainability.
While the event drew significant interest from local and Australian suppliers and non-mining participants, Mr Gula noted that the mining sector’s turnout was underwhelming.
“There was a good level of engagement with suppliers and non-mining clients,” he said. “However, it would have been more impactful if more mining companies had sent their representatives. As suppliers, we make considerable investments to exhibit, and the value increases significantly when decision-makers from mining operations are present.”
Despite limited mining attendance, Wimble & Co Ltd made the most of the opportunity—reinforcing existing relationships and establishing promising new leads that could translate into future business.
Mr Gula emphasised the broader importance of such platforms: “Exhibitions like this are a great opportunity for suppliers to put their products on display and connect with industrial and mining sector players. However, there needs to be more effort to bring mining clients to the floor. Organisers should consider extending invitations to industrial customers in town, even allowing paid access, to widen participation.”
His remarks point to the potential for future events to become more inclusive and productive through improved outreach and access strategies. Wimble & Co Ltd looks forward to participating in upcoming exhibitions—ideally with stronger industry representation to help drive sustainable growth in PNG’s mining and industrial sectors.
