Issue 3

September is a big month for Papua New Guinea this year -- and for good reason as it celebrates its 50th year of independence. So we at PNG Business News stepped up to the plate and bring you this mega-sized, 156-page Issue 3 2025, now available for FREE at a mining, oil and gas, or PNG business event near you and online through our website.

Looking back to look forward is a recurring theme in this issue, and our editor Jimbo Gulle gives us a retrospective of Papua New Guinea's five decades of sovereignty and economic evolution, starting on page 28.

Our ace commentator Michael "Mick" McWalter also gives us a textual roadmap to how the nation spent the last half-century exploring the mineral and petroleum resources that now drive its economy, beginning on page 10. Mick stresses it brilliantly toward the end: "If you do not drill, you certainly do not find it."

Several 50-year articles are scattered throughout this issue's pages, perhaps most notably the one on page 40, where Prime Minister James Marape vowed reforms to the resources industry after receiving the preliminary findings of the Cabinet-sanctioned review into PNG's development since independence, with an eye on shaping the country's future over the next 20 years.

The rest of our articles zoom in on the latest and biggest updates in the business, mining, oil and gas, tourism, finance, and company fields -- and you would be remiss in not leafing through every page of this magazine. Once again, we thank you for your constant support, and we join all of Papua New Guinea in celebrating the golden year of freedom of this great nation.
