Papua New Guinea’s National Superannuation Fund, or Nasfund, has reached more than 500 employees and contractors at the Hidden Valley gold-silver mine in Morobe Province through on-site member education and service sessions.
The outreach was part of Nasfund’s ongoing efforts to improve member access to information and services across employers in the resources sector.
Nasfund Chief Executive Officer Rajeev Sharma said the engagement built on the fund’s regular site visits throughout the year, reinforcing its presence in Papua New Guinea’s resources and energy sector.
“These services include on-site educational sessions focused on our drive to enhance member services,” Sharma said.
The Nasfund team conducted separate sessions for day- and night-shift workers employed by Morobe Consolidated Goldfields Limited, which operates the mine as a subsidiary of Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited.
Nasfund Member Engagement Partner Ronnie Tsika said the visit was the fund’s second engagement with MCGL in three years, reflecting a sustained effort to bring services directly to members at their workplaces.
Tsika said feedback from previous visits indicated that operational demands and limited time often prevented employees and contractors from visiting Nasfund branches. On-site engagements therefore provide an opportunity for members to raise concerns, obtain information and resolve account-related issues without leaving their work sites.
The latest engagement began with member information sessions. The team also provided direct member services to accommodate workers across different shifts.
Services included the on-site processing and printing of more than 260 member identification cards, vetting and merging of application forms, online member registration and registration for WhatsApp and TextBal services.
The team also assisted members with updating their personal information, provided education through the Retirement Readiness Program and conducted preliminary screening of Housing Advance application forms.
The initiative forms part of Nasfund’s broader member engagement efforts, bringing information and administrative services closer to employees and contractors in the resources sector.
