Sir Bob Signs Road Projects For K33m
Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae has executed, on behalf of the State, a management consultancy contract for roads maintenance and supervision under the Department of Works Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Project Phase 2 (RMRP II).
The contract is valued at K33,632,546.59. Part of the total value of the contract will be made in foreign currency of US$7,776,840, or K8,333,010. The contact will be wholly funded by the World Bank. The contract was awarded to Renardet S.A. Consulting Engineers of Switzerland. RMRP II was jointly prepared by the national government and the World Bank.
It covers maintenance, rehabilitation and upgrading of national and provincial roads and bridges in up to 10 provinces. To assist in the implementation of the RMRP II, the Department of Works sought the services of a consultant, in this case, Renardet S.A.
Consulting Engineers, to function as the “employer’s interim project manager” on behalf of the Works Department. The consultant would be responsible for planning, managing and implementing road maintenance and rehabilitation contracts as well as strict compliance to environmental and social safeguards and guidelines of the National Government and the World Bank.
The contract executed by the Governor-General was witnessed by Works Secretary Mr David Wereh and Renardet S.A. Consulting Engineers assistant area manager Dr Mattia Di Blasio and Dr Michele Colangelo.
