PNG Regulators Summit to help improve business regulation
The PNG Regulators Summit will be hosted this Thursday at Port Moresby’s Hilton Hotel bringing together key policy makers, regulators and business practitioners and other stakeholders.
Clarence Hoot, Managing Director of the PNG Investment Promotion Authority which is spearheading the summit said ‘our aim is to bring all stakeholders together to discuss existing regulations and how they can be improved.
“So at the end of the day we can then be able to work together to address key areas where there needs to be improvements,” Mr Hoot said.
Following the end of the summit, a report will be put together and presented to Parliament with recommendations for appropriate policies to be reviewed which will then lead to required improvements in regulations that will be developed and implemented.
Mr Hoot said this will enable existing businesses in PNG to be able to do business in a transparent and accountable environment, one that is conducive for business to prosper and continue to grow and expand and as a result they employ more people, transfer skills and knowledge and pay taxes.
