Marape, Morrison to talk in virtual summit

Prime Minister James Marape will take part in a virtual summit with his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison today to discuss areas of mutual interest on business, trade and investment.

“The highlight of this virtual summit will be the conclusion of the comprehensive strategic economic partnership (CSEP) to further enhance relations in the above areas,” according to a statement last night.

“A plan of action will also be included in the CSEP to ensure practical implementation and outcomes of the PNG- Australia bilateral relations in the immediate to long-term.”

Marape and Morrison will also discuss people-to-people institutional links, security, governance and development, and regional cooperation.

They will also witness the conclusion of a statement of intent on Technical and Vocational Education Training (Tvet) by Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Nick Kuman and Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Alex Hawke.

It is to reconfirm a commitment to work together to improve outcomes from PNG’s Tvet sector and increase the number of skilled workers to boost economic growth.
