Kua: Cabinet To Appoint Petroleum Boss ‘Very Soon’
Cabinet will make a decision on a permanent Petroleum Secretary “very soon”, Petroleum Minister Kerenga Kua said in Parliament yesterday.
Opposition Leader Patrick Pruaitch had asked during Question Time why one of the most important offices, the Petroleum Department, still had an acting Secretary and when the government would appoint a permanent one.
“They had advertised the position, the former government and before I took this Ministry, and I am in regular contact with the Public Service Minister whom I told I will not interfere with the process,” he said.
“Once a list is provided, we will bring to Cabinet for approval and we will announce.
I will not interfere with the process.” Mr Kua said that within a week, he should have a shortlist which he would present to Cabinet.
“I am happy to work with anybody, I got no preferences, I will work with anybody who Cabinet appoints.”
