Greek Investors Express Interest In PNG Business
Several Greek investors have expressed interest in looking at opportunities in shipping and renewable energy in Papua New Guinea.
PNG’s Ambassador to the European Union and Greece, Joshua Kalinoe said investment opportunities in agro-forestry businesses are also being pursued.
Ambassador Kalinoe was in Greece at the invitation of a Greek based PNG investor, Nick Roniotis, on October 15 where he met with several CEOs of companies in the shipping and renewable energy industries as well as the Mayor of Argros-Mycenae and President of the Mayors of Peloponnese, Dimitrios Kamposos.
Mr Kamposos visited Port Moresby and he was keen to help in facilitating political and economic relationship with the city of Port Moresby and PNG generally. “Mr Roniotis and myself are working together to connect with investors in the shipping, renewable energy and agro-forestry sectors,” Mr Kalinoe said.
“There is keen interest by Greek companies that I have spoken to and the embassy will provide the appropriate information to relevant stakeholders in PNG. “The onus is on PNG businesses and policy makers to connect with them to strike business deals.”
He said as an investor in PNG, Mr Roniotis brings a wealth of experience that he is positively sharing with some of the investors.
