Government wants business partnerships to flourish
Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has reaffirmed the Governments support to businesses in Papua New Guinea.
While saying not much would change, he again indicated his intent to review tax regime laws and how money from resource projects is shared.
He was addressing the business community during one of the largest investors meets in the region and the first of its kind to included our separate but high profile investment meets over five days in one city.
“Partnership with the private sector must go on and we must allow the private sector to flourish and grow in an enabling environment by giving the sector incentive and support to grow.
We expect you to pay your share of taxes and other business fees,” PM Marape said.
Mr Marape, also the member for Tari-Pori, reaffirmed governments support to the business community while stressing the importance of focusing on downstream processing in agriculture, fisheries and foresty, with a moratorium on round log exports.
