Coca-Cola Amatil Progresses Into K155m Major Investment
Coca-Cola Amatil PNG is investing K155 million to upgrade infrastructure in Lae to support the growth of its beverages portfolio that are solely manufactured in PNG.
The company’s head office in Lae is undergoing an upgrade with the construction of a new mega warehouse, canning line warehouse, administration building, sales depot and storage warehouse.
Head of supply chain Simon Robinson, who has been leading these projects, said they are excited to be part of this journey and witnessing these milestone achievements to transform their marketing and customer service.
Mr Robinson said innovation is a key component to driving efficiency and Coca Cola Amatil PNG has used this fundamental aspect to drive much needed change in its overall business.
“The beverage world is changing globally, and technology has become an integral part of everyday work it is important we become innovative and ensure we keep up with the demand and how we go to market, from the start of the process with raw materials to the end products are in the hands of our consumers,” he said.
“A significant feature of these projects is the ‘user-design Input’ aspect. Employees have been part and parcel in contributing to the overall layout and construction of these buildings, to better suit their working requirements to maximise efficiency and improve production output.”
The new canning line warehouse once completed will see Coca Cola Amatil PNG expand its production output and improve its manufacturing capabilities to meet the PNG consumer’s demand for canned beverages.
And the final structure will house Coca Cola Amatil PNG’s sales depot including marketing, logistic offices and cold drink equipment services office and workshop.
Mr Robinson said with the upgrade and completion of these structures, we will be able to further raise productivity levels, increase efficiency in the way we do business and therefore, increase the availability of our beverages in the market.
“Equally important is that this investment helps create an environment where our people feel motivated and energised.”
The new mega warehouse structure will be equipped with an automatic sprinkler system, fire and smoke sensors, fire hose reels and extinguishers, as well as other fire protection equipment.
It will also have nine loading bays with new automated loading ramps installed.
The new head office building will incorporate an “open office” design concept with several high-tech meeting rooms, collaboration rooms and breakout areas.
Apart from this, the company is also embarking on an array of capability building initiatives to upskill its workforce.
This is part of its efforts to strengthen its current operations and harness relationships with customers.
