BPNG: Covid-19 Impact Survey Results Expected In July
Bank of Papua New Guinea has conducted a country wide survey on small to medium enterprises affected by Covid-19.
Governor Loi Bakani said results of this survey are expected to be released next month will inform response and relief measures.
“This is on top of what the government is providing through the budget of Covid-19.
We are yet to finalise the details of how we will be covering so it’s important that those operations continue while the survey is going on.
Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) country director for PNG Eli Webb added that CIPE has also conducted surveys in March and spoke to about 200 SMEs to canvas other options apart from just providing business recovery and business opportunity.
Ms Webb said surveys like this will allow them to have some additional points and those results will be published in the next two weeks.
“We called about 700 SMEs and the response was of course realistic and relevant to what’s happening and I will be really keen to see the results by BPNG so at least we collate some of those responses to work together moving forward,” she said.
