Australian Government Provides Funding For COVID-19
The Australian Government has provided an additional PGK1.7million to support the Government of Papua New Guinea prepare for and respond to Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The funding support will boost the PNG Government’s existing commitment of PGK45million for COVID-19 response.
The country has declared a state of emergency as it confirms its first victim of the coronavirus pandemic.
Among the drastic measures decided by the National Executive Council yesterday include early first term school holidays, two weeks ban on all domestic flights starting today and banks and financial institutions and super funds to mobilize and work with government to on economic packages.
