Asian Development Bank Stands Ready To Assist With Rescue Package
As the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic continues to evolve, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is discussing the deployment of an $6.5 billion rescue package with the governments of developing member countries, that they are associated with.
This is to help address their immediate needs.
“ADB is closely monitoring the impact Covid-19 is having on our developing member countries in the Pacific,’’ said the director general of ADB’s Pacific Regional Department, Leah Gutierrez.
“We are continuing our discussions with governments in the Pacific to ensure the disbursement of ADB’s aid to the Pacific closely reflects the health and economic priorities the people of the Pacific are facing and will face as a result of Covid-19.”
“To ensure a coordinated response, ADB stated it is also in dialogue with development partners. “And stands ready to provide further financial assistance.
“Plus policy advice when the situation warrants.”
